As mentioned previously, the federal government offers free digital antenna kits. The important thing now is to find out if you're eligible for this benefit and, if so, how to proceed with the technical installation of the kit in your home.
Eligibility for the digital antenna kit The kit is made available by the government specifically for low-income families registered in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico), a system that compiles information on low-income families in Brazil for inclusion in social programs.
The criteria for receiving the kit for free are:
Monthly family income of no more than 3 minimum wages; Live in cities with a population of over 500,000; Have an active traditional satellite dish.
If you are not yet registered with CadÚnico, instructions for registration will be provided to follow.
About 20 million households watch free-to-air satellite TV. Of these, 10.5 million are registered with CadÚnico and therefore qualified to receive the kit for free.
Households with external digital "fishbone" antennas or internal digital antennas don't need to replace them, as they are not affected by 5G. The same applies to cable TV subscribers, whose signal is not impacted.
Free kit request process Requesting and installing the kit is simple and free. Families must pre-register on the platform. Stay Tuned, through the website or by phone: 0800 729 2404, available Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The call is free.
During pre-registration, you'll need to provide a family member's CPF or NIS (National Social Security Number) and confirm compliance with the requirements. After approval, a technician will contact you to schedule a visit and install the kit free of charge.
The installation takes approximately one hour, during which the technician installs the antenna and digital converter, provides guidance on the use and maintenance of the equipment and disposes of the old antenna.
With the kit installed, families will be able to enjoy superior image and sound quality on broadcast TV, without the risk of losing signal due to the implementation of 5G.
Registration in CadÚnico Registration with CadÚnico is in person and can be initiated in two ways: through pre-registration on the “Cadastro Único” app (available on Google Play and the App Store) or by going directly to a service center.
At service points, the Family Leader must bring documents for all family members:
For the Head of Household: CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) or Voter Registration Card and a photo ID (RG, Driver's License, Passport, etc.); For other family members: CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) or Birth Certificate; Current proof of residence (electricity, water, telephone bill, etc.). Once registered with CadÚnico, verify that you meet all the requirements and request a free digital antenna. After installation, enjoy the improved picture and sound quality with your family.
