Do you own an old satellite dish or an older TV set?
You may be eligible for a digital antenna kit, offered free of charge by the federal government. Take three minutes to see if you qualify and learn the application process.
With the introduction of 5G technology in Brazil, many changes and improvements have emerged, such as high-speed internet. However, for certain groups, particularly low-income families, this innovation can pose a barrier to accessing broadcast TV channels.
This is due to potential interference with analog TV signals from 5G networks. To address this challenge, the Brazilian government is providing digital antennas, ensuring that the population maintains free access to television programming.
The government's goal is to eventually deactivate traditional satellite dish signals. Therefore, it's important to understand how to order your digital antenna.
What does the free digital antenna kit look like?
Provided by government, the kit includes all the equipment necessary for receiving open channels after the arrival of 5G.
The kit consists of a digital satellite dish, a converter (receiver), coaxial cables, a remote control, and additional installation accessories. All of these items are designed to capture and decode the digital signal, ensuring high-quality, interference-free image and sound.
Those still using traditional satellite dishes risk losing access to free-to-air channels. The government plans to completely shut down these signals by 2026, leaving only the digital signal.
Therefore, the distribution of kits by the government is crucial to promoting digital inclusion, benefiting approximately 1.5 million people.
Advantages of the kit provided by the federal government In addition to enabling access to free-to-air TV after the implementation of 5G, the new digital antennas offer several other advantages, including:
Improved picture and sound quality: The most notable difference between analog and digital signals is the clarity of the picture and the superior audio quality, free from noise and distortion.
Access to local and regional channels:
With a digital antenna, it becomes possible to tune into channels that were previously unavailable.
Interference immunity: The transition to the new frequency eliminates the risk of interruptions by 5G networks or other services.
Free-to-air TV: Allows people to continue watching free-to-air TV without the cost of a paid digital antenna or subscription TV service.
Ease of installation: Installation is free and carried out by a technician, who also provides guidance on using the equipment.
Distribution of digital converters has already begun nationwide, and by the end of 2022, 10,000 families will have benefited. Registration to request the kit is free and can be done online, simply and without bureaucracy.
